Riverport Barbeque in Jefferson

Better the earlier you go. I wasn't a fan the first time I came but we came late in the day and they were running out of items. Came again on another day and the food was ten times better and they had everything available to try still. Wish they had more seating, though.

Found this place on the way back to Houston. The food is definitely worth the wait! My husband and I both had sausage and brisket and it was delicious. I enjoyed coke slaw and sweet potato fries with mine and my husband enjoyed pinto and baked beans with his. We were disappointed they were out of Turkey, as we really wanted to try it. We’ll just have to come back again.

I had the chopped brisket Sandwich and bbq beans, both were great. In fact the baked beans are some of the best I've ever had, and I travel a Lot and have tasted many places baked (bbq) beans.

Great brisket. I had the cajun fries. With bbq sauce and ranch dressing on top it was super good. It had a lot of chopped brisket in it.

Called order in was still on phone when I got there ,trying to get my order, ordered ,then wait 20 minutes for it when staff noticed that my order had been sitting there. . Food good, service sucks

Had a chance to stop by on black Friday. Jefferson was lovely with folks walking around but the start was the BBQ at Joseph's. Brisket was melt-in-your-mouth, ribs were fantastic and the sausage was delightful. However, the most surprising fish was the swamp fries. Perfect French fries with toppings that just popped. I loved their sauce on the fries which added another level of flavor. Highly recommend stopping by Jefferson and Joseph's soon.

They have swamp fries, 🤔what are swamp fries? new item have been added to the menu .. Go check them out! , But don't wait to late in the day,🕓they may have sold😟 it all... they do a ALOT of business. Folks love them, come from all around just to eat there. A family setting, good atmosphere with a lot of history on the walls to talk and wonder about. Sorry cant find my pic to share.

Entree was delicious. Sides were amazing. The prices were a bit high, but that's BBQ these days. Cheaper than most around and it tastes like it should be way more expensive. Will definitely be back!

This is some of the best BBQ I have had in my life. Everything I have had there is great, but the sliced brisket sandwich is my favorite. Meat is so tender and flavorful that BBQ sauce is not even needed.

The barbecue ribs were great. They were fall-off-the-bone tender.we also ordered what I think we're called riverboat fries. regardless of the name they are fries smothered in cheese and onions and in my case, pulled pork because they were out of brisket. I got the jalapenos on the side because my guest doesn't like spicy food. They were way more than two of us could eat and we got the small order. If you don't have several people in your party don't order the large ones.Everyone there was very friendly.They were out of brisket and sausage because we got there just a few minutes before closing time.This is a really great place to eat. I absolutely recommend it.

Clean,excellent service wonderful place food delicious and price are ok you pay more for a cold subway then a meal here two sides my sandwich and a drink for $11.00 I don't understand the ones who said ( little high)

Always a great BBQ place to stop at in Jefferson. The chopped brisket is really good, as are the sweet potato fries. They ha many items to choose from on the menu.

Man, this was an emotionally satisfying experience! Wow! We came from southern Illinois to visit dear friends from the Canton-Athens area, and took a little road trip to Jefferson. We found this great little restaurant. The Swamp Fries were fantastic. The men's restroom was remarkably clean as well. The young girls serving were very nice. The only "negative" was I would have left only a nominal tip as apart from bringing the food there was no real "service" to speak of (i.e. no body came by for drink refills, etc.).

BBQ is great! The hospitality is awesome! A little crowded as it is a small hometown. We walked the town and it was the best time. Lots of antique shops, a few boutiques and a cool General store. I even fit in a tree. Don't try it as the is something living in it! I highly recommend you make it a weekend in Jefferson, TX and not just a day!

You cannot go wrong with anything you get here! Swamp fries, rib plate, chopped beef sandwich, mix plate, BBQ beans, hot water cornbread, pecan pie just to name a few items. You won't be disappointed with any of the items on the menu

Stephen really knows how to cook a brisket! This is as good as it gets, tender, smoky and just enough charred fat to put it over the top. The smoked turkey is nicely done also.

Excellent food and as busy as they were, we had excellent service. The swamp fries are a must to try, I also had the jalapeno cheddar sausage, pulled pork was on the table too and the barbecue baked beans and potato salad was spot on! Great place to go!

Swamp Fries are the best I’ve ever eaten. Brisket is delicious, fries are perfectly crisp, cheese and red onions, jalapeños and barbecue sauce. You can’t go wrong with this menu item. So much to eat. I had to take half of it home.

I had a chopped brisket and jalapeno cheddar sausage combo sandwich. It was quite good. The fries are hand cut and really good. In a nice area with plenty to look at.

Was our first visit and we LOVED it. Had the swamp fries and omg they were so good!! The staff was extremely friendly and the atmosphere was wonderful, a true good ole home town feeling.

We enjoyed the brisket, the friendliness and prompt staff here. The sides are not what we consider Texas style sides for BBQ though. Being born and raised in the state, we both know BBQ and standard sides - potato salad, BBQ beans, unsweetened cole slaw - to name a few. Definitely not what we have eaten in this state before.

The staff there are usually nice and friendly. They have wonderful meats that are cooked tender and nice BBQ sauce. They have fresh made French fries from real potatoes that are very good. A very nice homey place to eat with great food.

Eat here every time we're in town. Brisket is moist and just the right amount of smoke. Gotta have the swamp fries. The sauce is the boss!!

Oh man, was in the area for a few days and it was so good I came in both days I was in town. Great service too, my girlfriend has a gluten allergy and they were really helpful.All their meats are great, the pork sausage, brisket and ribs were my favorite. The BBQ beans were the best I've had in Tx.

Heard many good things about Joseph's Riverport Barbeque from a good friend of mine. Wife and I decided to take a drive and visit the many antique stores in the small town. Per recommendations from my friend, I got the ribs and the wife got the brisket. Both were amazing. Can't go wrong with this place.

Let me just say that beef is my thing. I love it in all forms. This is next-level stuff. I'm also a bit of a hog when it comes to eating and I couldn't finish this sandwich. The meat was so juicy and I love that! Do yourself a favor, get there!

Good food. Tried the beef rib, it was a huge cut of meat.

The 5 stars are for the food only! The person that took my order was rude and mean. The tattoos all over her arms didn't help either. I think she was trying to prove she was tough or above us. I change my mind about the stars incase the management gets the idea that it's ok to have employees like her. The food was delicious.

The ribs have a delightful little sweet kick to them. The BBQ baked beans are the best I’ve eaten anywhere. They’re that good. If you’re anywhere near Jefferson and looking for quality barbecue, you have to make a stop at Riverport!

I got a chopped BBQ sandwich, French fries and tea. It was very good. Being located in the heart of historic Jefferson makes it even better.
